Rachel inherited her love for making things from her two great aunties who were avid sewers, crocheters and embroiderers. Their enthusiasm and passion for handicrafts inspired her to pursue a career as a maker. After leaving school she attended Gray’s School of Art where she trained as a Textile Designer and honed her home – taught talents. Upon graduating, Rachel was employed by internationally renowned knitwear brand Rowan Yarns as a Design Consultant, Demonstrator and Workshop Tutor for whom she worked for for 5 years before launching her own company and brand.
Over the years Rachel has branched out into all areas of craft and has sold her work to a number of clients, retailers and market leaders, her colourful and quirky creations featuring in high profile newspapers and magazines. Rachel’s biggest accomplishment has been authoring and contributing to seven published titles including I love Knitting, Animal Hats and Crafting for Girls which feature some of her favourite techniques such as knitting, crochet, sewing and feltmaking.
Rachel has also delivered a range of workshops to schools, universities and art centres across Scotland. She has been invited to demonstrate at a number of popular exhibitions and events taking place throughout the UK and has even made guest appearances on a lifestyle show presenting live craft items to STV audiences.
As well as designing and teaching from her home studio, Rachel makes and sells her own range of products and works as a part-time tutor delivering art therapy sessions to patients in palliative care. She lives in Fife, Scotland with her husband Andy and daughter Lottie. Rachel has also recently launched her very own craft school with a range of events.
